Who we are

ROOT 66 is the 16–25 community of Bethany City Church, a registered charity in England & Wales (number 1112606), Bede Tower, Burdon Road, Sunderland, SR2 7EA. Bethany City Church is the data controller for information collected through this website.

To ask anything about privacy, contact us at root66@bethanycitychurch.org, info@bethanycitychurch.org or 0191 565 4000.

What we collect, and why

When you fill in our contact form, we collect the details you choose to give us:

  • Your name and email address, so we can reply to you.
  • Your phone number and age range, only if you choose to provide them, to help us respond helpfully.
  • Your message, the information you send us.

We use these details only to respond to your enquiry and to help you connect with ROOT 66. We will not sell your information, and we will not add you to any mailing list without your separate, clear agreement.

Our lawful basis

We rely on your consent (which you give by ticking the box and submitting the form) and our legitimate interests in responding to enquiries about our activities. You can withdraw your consent at any time by emailing us.

Who we share it with

We use a small number of trusted providers to run this website. They act on our instructions and only process your data to provide their service:

  • Brevo (Sendinblue GmbH), delivers the contact-form email to us and, if applicable, a confirmation email to you. See the Brevo privacy policy.
  • Google reCAPTCHA, protects the form from spam and abuse by assessing whether a submission is likely to be automated. This is necessary for the security of the form. See the Google privacy policy.
  • Google Maps, only loads if you choose to click "Load interactive map" on our contact page.
  • Our website host, our own server, which may keep standard technical logs (such as IP addresses) for security and to keep the site running.

Cookies

This website does not use advertising or analytics cookies. We use only what is needed for the site to work and to keep it secure:

  • reCAPTCHA may set cookies to tell humans from bots when you use the contact form.
  • Google Maps may set cookies, but only after you actively choose to load the map.

You can block or delete cookies in your browser settings at any time; the site will still work.

How long we keep it

We keep enquiry emails only for as long as needed to deal with your message and any follow-up, and then delete them in line with our retention practices. Security logs are kept for a short period and then removed.

Your rights

Under UK data protection law you have the right to access the information we hold about you, to ask us to correct or delete it, to object to or restrict how we use it, and to withdraw consent. To exercise any of these, email info@bethanycitychurch.org.

If you're unhappy with how we've handled your information, you can complain to the Information Commissioner's Office (ICO) at ico.org.uk.

Safeguarding

The safety and wellbeing of everyone at ROOT 66 matters to us. You can read Bethany City Church's safeguarding information here.
