Free and low-cost things to do in Sunderland

You don't need a lot of money to enjoy Sunderland. Between the beaches, the parks and a few free gems in the city, there's plenty to fill a weekend. Here's where to start.

The seafront (free)

Sunderland's coastline is the best free thing about the city. Walk Roker and Seaburn beaches, head out along Roker Pier on a clear day, or take the path along Marine Walk where the cafes and chip shops are if you fancy a cheap treat.
